Ian Pearce is the current President of BAUS.

Ian took over as President from Jo Cresswell at the Annual Meeting in Birmingham in June 2024. 

He qualified from the University of Nottingham Medical School in 1993, trained in the North West and was appointed Consultant at Manchester Royal Infirmary in 2002.

In 2012, he was awarded the Karl Storz - Harold Hopkins Golden Telescope for a significant and lasting contribution to Urology. The award is given to urologists who have made a significant and lasting contribution to urology. They must be UK Members of The British Association of Urological Surgeons and within ten years of their first consultant appointment. The purpose of the award is to recognise excellence in young urologists.


His past roles include:

  • Hon Secretary of BAUS from 2021-2023;
  • Senior examiner for FRCS (Urol);
  • BAUS Education Committee member;
  • Andrology Executive Committee member;
  • BAUS Trustee;
  • Editor-in-chief of the Journal of Clinical Urology;
  • Advisor to NICE, MHRA, NIHR; and
  • Course Director, Urology MSc.
