BAUS 1961 Edinburgh

The 1961 BAUS Annual Scientific Meeting took place from 15 to 17 June 1961 at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, Nicholson Street, Edinburgh (pictured upper right).

Other Information

After short papers on 15 June, members and their guests were entertained to tea in the City Chambers by invitation of the Lord Provost. This was followed by a reception in the University by invitation of the Principal and Vice-Chancellor, Sir Edward Appleton GBE, KCB (pictured lower right).

This was followed by the Annual Dinner at the Royal College of Surgeons, attended by 147 members and their guests. 

On 16 June, the focus topic was "Neurogenic disorders of the bladder". In the evening, a Supper-Dance was held at the North British Hotel, attended by 116 members and their guests.

On Saturday morning, 17 June, clinico-pathological demonstrations and discussions were held at the Royal Infirmary, the Royal Hospital for Sick Children and the Western General Hospital.
