Cuts strictures forward
This instrument was Invented by Jacques-Gilles Maisonneuve of Paris in 1855.
The urethrotome is passed through the stricture and the blade opened forward, cutting through the stricture. The end of the urethrotome unscrews to reveal a thread which can be attached to a filiform bougie or whip, to guide the operator through the correct passage.
This exhibit was manufactured by the instrument makers Weiss of London.
