The 1989 Punch Club meeting was hosted by Joe Kennedy in Belfast.
Members were accommodated some distance out of Belfast and were transported each morning to Belfast City Hospital for the scientific sessions. Unfortunately, there are no formal records of the presentations during these sessions.
Joe & Clare Kennedy entertained members at their home on the first evening in outstanding fashion, with hospitality defined by many as "memorable".
Despite the resolution of "The Troubles", there was still a heavy armed presence on the streets of Belfast and the sectarian murals (example below) have since, of course, become iconic features of the city.
The black-tie Club dinner was held in Belfast Castle (pictured above right).
