The 1953 BAUS Annual Scientific Meeting was held from 25 to 28 June 1953 at Leeds General Infirmary (pictured upper right), Great George Street, Leeds.

On 25 June, Professor Charles Huggins (pictured lower right) gave a talk on "The adrenal in cancer" which was followed by tea and a reception, hosted by the Lord Mayor, in the Union Building.
At the reception, Mr Ronald Ogier Ward and Prof Huggins were awarded honorary degrees by the University of Leeds. In the evening, members and guest were entertained to an after-dinner social gathering at Temple Newsam Mansion.
On 26 June, the theme of the meeting changed to "Genitourinary tuberculosis" and, after a reception at the Civic Hall, the Annual Dinner took place at The Parkway Hotel, attended by 122 members and their guests.
Operating sessions and demonstrations were held at Leeds General Hospital and Bradford Royal Infirmary on 27 June, followed by a cocktail party at the Queen's Hotel and a Dinner-Dance attended by 100 members and guests.
The meeting ended on 28 June with a party of 27 visiting Fountains Abbey.
