The 1971 BAUS Annual Scientific Meeting took place from 24 to 26 June 1971 at the Royal College of Surgeons of England (pictured upper right), Lincoln's Inn Fields, London.

On Wednesday 23 June, the President and Council of BAUS hosted a reception in the Royal College of Physicians  by kind permission of the President, Lord Rosenheim.

Shoert papers were presented on 24 June and the Urological prize for 1971 was presented to Mr PJB Smith for his essay on "Age changes in the female urethra:.

In the evening, the Annual Dinner was held in the Edward Lumley Hall of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, attended by 282 members and their guests. During the dinner, the St Peter's Medal was presented to Mr Dennis Poole-Wilson.

The topic for discussion on  25 June was "Conservative surgery of the kidney" and several papers were presented.

In the evening, 120 members and guests attended an informal dinner at the headquarters of the Magic Circle (pictured lower right).

On Saturday 26 June, visits were arranged to The London Hospital (with Mr GC Tresidder, Professor JP Blandy and colleagues), The Institute of Urology & St Paul’s Hospital (with members of the Consultant Staff) and St Thomas’s Hospital (with Mr K Shuttleworth and colleagues).
