2005 Galway

The 2005 Punch Club meeting was hosted by Michael Corcoran in Galway.


Members and their partners were entertained on the evening of 4 October to supper at the home of Michael Corcoran in Oranmore, Co. Galway.

During Thursday 5 October, the accompanying persons enjoyed a coach trip to beautiful Connemara with lunch included.

The club dinner took place on the evening of Thursday 4 October, followed by further clinical presentatons on Friday 6 October.

Geological features at Burren

Following the Friday morning clinical presentations, members and tteir partners were treated to a coach tour of the Burren (pictured top right), with lunch included. According to Wikipedia, the Burren:


... is a region of County Clare in the southwest of Ireland. It is a karst landscape of bedrock incorporating a vast cracked pavement of glacial-era limestone, with cliffs, caves, fossils, rock formations and archaeological sites. On the Atlantic coast, the precipitous cliffs of Moher are home to thousands of seabirds, including puffins. Nearby Doolin village is a renowned centre for traditional Irish music ...

Michael Corcoran, host of the 2005 Galway meeting, sadly passed away in August 2016. On hearing of his death, the Punch Club sent their condolences to his widow, Patsy, who generously responded with the memento below:
