1995 Polish Urological Association Medal

The 25th Annual Meeting in Gdansk

This medal is from the Polish Urological Association (Polskie Towarzystwo Urologiczne or PTU) congress in 1995; it celebrates 25 years of the PTU Annual Scientific Meeting. The meeting was held in Gdansk.

The obverse of the medal shows the famous Neptune Fountain of Gdansk. Dating from 1615, the fountain was designed by Abraham van den Blocke and stands in the historic Long Market.

The reverse shows the badge of the Department of Urology from Gdansk (Gdansk Medical University). The lions rampant are from the Arms of the City of Gdansk.

Thanks to my friend Dr Roman Sosnowski, urologist and Medical Historian for translating and clarifying this medal.
