Expert in retropubic prostatectomy
Terence Millin was born in Co Down and educated, initially in mathematics, at Trinity College Dublin where he was awarded a rugby cap for Ireland.
He excelled academically throught his career and was an outstandingly clear thinker, thanks to his background in mathematics.
He popularised retropubic prostatectomy in the UK and was a pioneer of transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP).
He was elected President of BAUS in 1953 and then returned to Ireland where he eventually became President of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.
