The 2007 BAUS Annual Scientific Meeting took place from 18 to 22 June 2007 at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC, pictured top right), Exhibition Way, Glasgow.
President's Welcome
BAUS President, Mr Tony Mundy, offered the following welcome to members attending the 2007 meeting:
On behalf of the Council of the British Association of Urological Surgeons, it is my pleasure to welcome you to our Annual Scientific Meeting at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre in Glasgow from 18–22 June 2007.
We have arranged a full programme ‐ professional, educational and social - for what is going to be a fantastic meeting. I would like to thank our abstract reviewers, the Programme Committee and, in particular, Justin Vale (Honorary Secretary), the Specialist Sections, Kieran O'Flynn (Director, Office of Education) and Anne Bishop and the team in the BAUS Office for the enormous amount of work that has gone into the planning of this meeting.
The number of original papers submitted to this meeting continues to increase in number and quality and, in response to this, we have introduced unmoderated posters this year. These are submissions which are of high enough quality to be accepted, but which do not fit neatly into the programme. They will be displayed in the Exhibition Hall and are cited in the abstract book. We are asking the presenters to stand beside their poster for half an hour from 13:00 to 13:340hr on the day during which their poster appears in the programme, in order that you can ask questions. We have also encouraged the Chairmen of the moderated poster sessions to draw attention to these posters, where relevant.
In the present uncertain economic climate, we are more grateful than ever for the support we receive from the pharmaceutical and equipment industries. Please be sure to show your appreciation by visiting the exhibition stands and discussing your needs with the company representatives.
Our accompanying persons are invited to join Henri Vale, the wife of our Honorary Secretary, for coffee at the Crowne Plaza Hotel (immediately adjacent to the SECC) at 09:30hr on Tuesday 19 June to plan their week. I hope you will be able to join us aboard the Paddle Steamer Waverley (pictured above right) at 18:30hr on Wednesday 20 June for an evening cruise on the River Clyde ‐ please contact the BAUS Registration Desk about purchasing tickets which are £20.00.
We hope you enjoy the meeting and would be happy to receive your feedback

Other Information
This was first Annual Scientific Meeting at which unmoderated posters were accepted.
These are posters that had been submitted but did not fit into any of the pre-determined categories, yet were considered by the BAUS abstract reviewers to be of high quality and worthy of presentation.
Subsequently, the unmoderated posters have been taken over by a highly varied group of posters on the "History of Urology".
