BAUS 1958 London

The 1958 BAUS Annual Scientific Meeting took place from 19 to 21 June 1958. The meeting followed the Annual General Meeting at the Royal College of Surgeons of England, Lincoln's Inn Fields, London and, after the AGM, continued at the Royal Society of Medicine (RSM, pictured upper right), Wimpole Street, London.

Other Information

Following a reception at the Royal College of Surgeons on 18 June, short papers were presented after the AGM on 19 June.

In the afternoon members were invited to attend a meeting of the Section of Urology at the Royal Society of Medicine, at which a paper was given by Dr Willet F Whitmore (pictured lower right) of the Memorial Centre, New York, on the “Surgical treatment of bladder tumours”. 

The Annual Dinner was heldin the evening  at the Royal College of Surgeons , and was attended by 118 members and their guests.

There was a Supper Dance on 20 June at The Savoy Hotel, attended by 60 members and their guests, after a session of presentations on "Carcinoma of the prostate" and, on 21 June the morning was occupied with short papers.

Clinical and operating sessions were held at various London Hospitals throughout the meeting.
