We have now published data on surgery for female stress urinary incontinence on this website for three consecutive years.
There are a number of surgical options available for the treatment of female stress urinary incontinence (SUI) including insertion of mid-urethral sling tapes, coloposuspension, periurethral bulking agents, autologous sling procedures and artificial urinary sphincters. This audit has included all surgical treatments for both primary and recurrent stress urinary incontinence. Details of the type and number of operations performed by each surgeon and centre are given. Information about surgeon and unit complication rates and some patient reported outcomes (PROMS) are also published for those Units or Consultants who have submitted follow up data on more than 50% of their cases.
Whilst we have made every effort to ensure the accuracy of all the information in this section, BAUS does not accept any liability arising from any errors or omissions or the use of, or reliance on, the information contained on this website, and we reserve the right to change the information and descriptions as and when required.
In looking at these data, it is important to bear in mind that variations in the data between individual surgeons and units may be a reflection of case complexity or patient factors. We strongly recommend, therefore, that individual patients discuss the likely outcomes of their procedure with their urologist before any operation. This will help them understand the expected outcome of this complex procedure, and will take into account factors which affect their particular case.
