Introduction from Jo Cresswell, BAUS President

Dear Colleagues

I spent an enjoyable few days at The AUA and can report that the BAUS/USANZ/BJUI session was a great success. Excellent presentations from Maria Satchi and Mehwash Nadeem. Thank you to Vb Modgil and Freddie Hamdy for Chairing. Danielle Whiting represented BSoT at the Resident's Bowl and her team made it through to the semi-final. Congratulations to Kevin Byrne and Shen Tan who were selected for the Early Career Investigators Forum. The results of the PuRE trial were presented by Daron Smith on behalf of the Section of Endourology. And I received a Global Leadership Award from the Board of the AUA. All in all, a very good turnout from BAUS.

Apologies to anyone encountering problems with the registration system for the BAUS 2024 Annual Meeting. We have extended the early bird deadline so that no-one misses out on generous discounted rates.

Urolink and TUF are offering opportunities for overseas fellowship visits. There are also small grants and Oncology audit projects to join. Plenty to strengthen flourishing CV's.

Enjoy browsing

Best wishes

Jo Cresswell

Oncology - Studies of Malignant Ureteric Obstruction

The BAUS Oncology Section would like to make members aware of the opportunity to participate in two linked studies of patients with Malignant Ureteric Obstruction (MUO):

INSITE MUO launching in May 2024, and seeks to determine the incidence of MUO in patients with abdominopelvic malignancies, along with their initial management.

OPTIMISE MUO is planned to launch in the Autumn, and will prospectively assess the rationale for intervention, and whether that is ultimately realised, along with reviewing differences in outcome by management approach.

Thanks to the units who have already signed up - click here for more info about both studies and to register your interest.

Oncology & Andrology - Consultation open: G038 Dataset for penile and distal urethral cancer histopathology reports

The Royal College of Pathologists have invited BAUS Oncology and BAUS Andrology members to  feedback on this dataset.

A pdf of the draft dataset can be found here (BAUS log-in required).  Feedback should be sent by email to: The Royal College of Pathologists
